Vanguardia
Vanguardia, one of the most respected news outlets in Mexico, approached Danilo Black to develop their first iPad app in late March 2010, when the iPad was just about to hit the Apple stores. The result was a first-generation iOS application for the iPad, which became the first media app in the Spanish-speaking world to be available in the iTunes Store.
Innovation In Storytelling
The iPad app gives its users the opportunity to check live news from Vanguardia’s newsroom. The app engages in an intuitive way of browsing, with a special approach to video content. Photo galleries, videos and political cartoons make the app an excellent resource to Mexican national news. Using interactive red pins, the "News Map" shows the exact location of news as they happen in Mexico and around the globe.
Vanguardia’s iPad app displays some of the most renowned writers: Armando Fuentes Aguirre, Mario Vargas Llosa, Denise Dresser, Fernando Savater, Raymundo Riva Palacio and Gaby Vargas among others.
